he "Plattkofel" mountain hut was constructed by Anton Kasseroler in 1935 to offer hikers and mountain climbers a proper place to eat and sleep.
During the Second World War, the refuge was closed, but at the beginning of the 50's, it was back in business again and eventually reconstructed and enlarged in 1971.
The famous „Friedrich August“ route, which was constructed in 1910 from the Alps union „Seiser Alpe“ at the suggestion of the Dolomites enthusiastic king Friedrich August from Sachsen, leads from the „Sellajoch“ to the „Plattkofelhut“ and to the Rif. Alpe di Siusi.
